Aftercare After Skin Boosters: A Hongdae Clinic Guide

After skin boosters such as Rejuran Healer, CellREDM, Laetigen or Re2O, small bumps and redness typically settle within one to two days. At Re:berry Hongdae we advise skipping makeup on injection points for the rest of the day, avoiding saunas, heavy exercise and alcohol for 24 hours, not massaging the area, and using gentle skincare with daily sunscreen.

What to expect after a skin booster

Skin boosters are injected into the superficial skin in many small points. Right after treatment, it is normal to see small raised bumps, a little redness and, sometimes, tiny pinpoint marks or bruises. The look varies by product: thicker boosters such as Rejuran Healer tend to leave more visible bumps than thinner hydrating ones.

These signs are part of the normal process and typically fade over hours to a couple of days. Good aftercare helps them settle comfortably and reduces the chance of irritation or infection.

The first 24 hours

Do

  • Keep the area clean and let it rest.
  • Use a gentle cleanser in the evening, patting dry rather than rubbing.
  • Apply a simple, fragrance-free moisturizer or the soothing product given at the clinic.
  • Use a cool compress wrapped in clean cloth for short periods if the area feels warm.
  • Sleep with your head slightly raised if under-eye areas were treated.

Avoid

  • Makeup on injection points: Wait until the next day to reduce infection risk.
  • Massage or pressing: Let the product settle where it was placed.
  • Heat: Saunas, jjimjilbang, hot baths and hot yoga.
  • Intense exercise: Heavy sweating and increased blood flow can worsen swelling.
  • Alcohol: It may increase redness and bruising.

Days 2 to 7

By the second day, most bumps have flattened. You can usually return to light makeup, normal exercise and your daily routine. Continue to avoid:

  • Retinoids, exfoliating acids and scrubs for about three to five days, or as your doctor advises
  • Facial treatments such as peels, lasers or facials on the same area for at least one to two weeks, unless they are part of your planned combination
  • Prolonged sun exposure without SPF

If bruising appears, it usually changes color and fades within a week. Concealer can be used once the skin surface has closed.

Product-specific notes

Rejuran Healer and PDRN

Polynucleotide boosters often leave the most noticeable bumps. They usually settle in one to two days but can take a little longer under the eyes. See How long do Rejuran bumps last?

CellREDM

CellREDM may feel slightly firm at injection points for a few days as the matrix settles. Avoid pressing or massaging it.

Laetigen and Re2O

Hydration- and collagen-focused boosters generally leave lighter bumps. Skin may feel plumper within days.

Exosome treatments

When exosomes are applied after microneedling, skin may be red for one to two days, similar to a mild sunburn. Follow the specific instructions given at the clinic.

Skincare you can use

  • Cleanser: Mild, low-foam, fragrance-free
  • Moisturizer: Barrier-supporting ingredients like ceramides or panthenol
  • Sunscreen: Broad-spectrum SPF 30 to 50, ideally mineral for sensitive skin, from the next morning

  • Any skin color change such as dusky or white patches
  • Signs of allergic reaction such as hives or difficulty breathing (seek emergency care)

Aftercare by area

Under-eyes

The thin skin here swells and bruises more easily. Sleep with your head slightly raised for the first night, avoid rubbing your eyes and remove eye makeup gently for a few days.

Cheeks and full face

Avoid sleeping face-down on the first night if possible, and keep hair products and hands away from the treated area.

Neck

Avoid tight collars, scarves that rub and heavy perfume on the neck for a day or two.

Flying and travel after boosters

Most people can fly a day or two after boosters. Cabin air is dry, so moisturize and drink water during the flight. Avoid tight sleep masks over freshly treated under-eye skin. If your trip includes a sauna visit, wait until bumps have fully settled. More travel tips are in flying after skin treatments.

Common aftercare mistakes

  • Layering many actives: Adding serums, acids and retinol right away can irritate freshly treated skin.
  • Picking at bumps: Bumps resolve on their own; squeezing them may cause marks or infection.
  • Skipping sunscreen: Treated skin is more vulnerable to irritation and pigment changes.
  • Booking another treatment too soon: Give your skin time to recover unless the doctor has planned a sequence.
  • Using a dirty phone or pillowcase: Small but easy sources of bacteria on treated skin.

Supporting your results long term

Boosters work gradually, with skin quality usually improving over two to four weeks and across a course of sessions. Daily sunscreen, adequate sleep, not smoking and a consistent moisturizing routine help maintain the effect. Results vary by individual, and your doctor will suggest when to return for the next session.

Key facts

  • Bumps: Usually settle in 1–2 days
  • Bruising: Possible; may last up to a week
  • Makeup: Typically from the next day

  • Call the clinic if: Pain, heat or swelling increases after day 2

Frequently asked questions

Can I wash my face after a skin booster?

Yes, usually the same evening. Use lukewarm water and a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser, and pat dry with a clean towel rather than rubbing. Avoid scrubs, cleansing brushes and strong acids for a few days. If you received exosomes after microneedling, follow the clinic's specific instructions.

Why do I still have bumps after two days?

Thicker products, thinner skin and areas like the under-eyes can take a little longer to settle, sometimes three or four days. Bumps that are flattening gradually are generally normal. If they become more painful, hot or red instead of improving, contact the clinic so a doctor can check.

Can I exercise after a skin booster?

Light walking is usually fine on the day of treatment. Avoid intense exercise, hot yoga and heavy sweating for about 24 hours, as increased blood flow and heat may worsen swelling and bruising. Most people return to their normal workouts from the next day.

Is it normal to see bruises after a skin booster?

Small bruises are a common side effect of any injection, especially in thin-skinned areas or if you take blood-thinning medication or supplements. They usually fade within a week. A cool compress early on may help, and concealer can be used once the skin has closed.
