To reduce bruising after Botox, filler or skin boosters, avoid alcohol and blood-thinning supplements beforehand if safe, apply a cool compress gently in the first hours, keep your head raised and skip heat and intense exercise for 24 hours. At Re:berry Hongdae, most injection bruises fade within five to ten days.

Why do injections cause bruises?
Even with fine needles and careful technique, a needle or cannula can touch a tiny blood vessel under the skin. A small amount of blood leaks into surrounding tissue, creating a bruise. Thin-skinned areas such as the under-eyes and lips bruise more easily, as do people who take blood-thinning medications or supplements.
Before your appointment
- Avoid alcohol for about 24 to 48 hours.
- If taken occasionally and not for a medical reason, avoid aspirin, ibuprofen and naproxen for several days; see painkillers before Botox or filler.
- Tell the clinic about fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo, garlic or turmeric supplements.
- Never stop prescribed blood thinners without your prescribing doctor's advice.
Right after treatment
- Cool compress: Wrap ice or a cold pack in clean cloth and apply gently for 5 to 10 minutes at a time over the first few hours.
- Light pressure: Gentle pressure at a bleeding point helps, but do not massage filler or boosters unless advised.
- Head raised: Sleep slightly elevated the first night, particularly after under-eye treatment.
- Avoid heat: Skip saunas, jjimjilbang, hot baths and intense exercise for 24 hours.
In the following days
Bruises typically change from purple to green and yellow as they fade. Some people use arnica gel, though evidence is mixed. Once the injection points have closed, usually by the next day, a color-correcting concealer can cover the bruise. Our Botox and filler aftercare and skin booster aftercare guides give more detail.
When to contact the clinic
Normal bruises are flat, not very painful and steadily improving. Contact Re:berry Hongdae or seek urgent care if you notice severe or increasing pain, skin turning white, gray or mottled, a rapidly growing lump, blistering or changes in vision. These signs are rare but need prompt attention.
Planning around events
If you have photos, a wedding or a flight, allow at least a week after injections in bruise-prone areas. Results and recovery vary by individual.

Related questions
How long does bruising last after filler?
Most filler bruises fade within five to ten days, sometimes faster with small injections or slower in thin-skinned areas such as the under-eyes and lips. A bruise that is steadily fading is normal. If it becomes more painful or the skin changes color unusually, contact the clinic promptly.
Does arnica help bruising?
Some people use arnica gel or tablets to help bruises fade, and some find it helpful, but scientific evidence is mixed. It is generally considered low risk on unbroken skin. Avoid applying any product directly to open injection points, and ask your doctor if you have allergies or sensitive skin.
Can I prevent bruising completely?
No method guarantees zero bruising, because even careful injections can touch small vessels. Avoiding alcohol and blood-thinning supplements beforehand, choosing an experienced injector, using cool compresses and avoiding heat afterward all reduce the chance and size of bruises for many patients.
