Rosacea is not currently considered curable, because it is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that tends to flare and settle over time. However, many people control it well with trigger management, gentle skincare, medical treatment and, for persistent redness, laser or energy treatments. At Re:berry Hongdae a doctor assesses your rosacea type before recommending care.

Why is rosacea not curable?
Rosacea involves a mix of factors: overreactive blood vessels, immune and inflammatory responses, a weakened skin barrier and possibly microscopic mites that live on the skin. Genetics play a role. Because these factors are part of how a person's skin behaves, treatment can calm symptoms but does not fully switch the condition off. That is why the goal is long-term control rather than a cure.
What types of rosacea are there?
- Redness and flushing: persistent central facial redness and visible vessels.
- Bumps and pimples: acne-like spots without blackheads.
- Thickening skin: usually on the nose, more common in men.
- Eye symptoms: dryness, irritation and redness of the eyes.
Many people have more than one type, which affects treatment choices. See our facial redness and rosacea page.
How is rosacea managed?
Daily care and triggers
Identifying triggers is often the most powerful step. Common ones include sun, heat, saunas, alcohol, spicy food, hot drinks and stress. Gentle, fragrance-free skincare and daily sunscreen protect the barrier.
Medical treatment
Prescription creams or oral medications may reduce bumps and inflammation. These are prescribed after a doctor's assessment.
Laser and device options
For persistent redness and visible vessels, treatments such as Genesis laser or other vascular-focused options may help. LDM may be used for calming and hydration. Several sessions are usually needed, and results vary by individual.
How long until redness improves?
With trigger control and medical care, many people notice calmer skin within several weeks. Vascular laser plans typically involve a few sessions spaced several weeks apart, and maintenance may be needed later.
Can rosacea go away on its own?
Symptoms can fade for long periods, especially when triggers are well managed, and some people find it becomes milder with age. But flares can return, so ongoing care is wise. Pricing for any treatment depends on the plan and is confirmed in writing at consultation; book through our Booking page.

Related questions
Is rosacea the same as sensitive skin?
Not exactly. Many people with rosacea have sensitive skin, but rosacea is a specific medical condition with features such as persistent central redness, flushing, visible vessels or acne-like bumps. Sensitive skin can occur without rosacea. A doctor can help distinguish them and suggest suitable care.
Can lasers make rosacea worse?
Some heat-based or aggressive treatments can trigger flushing, which is why settings and device choice matter. Gentle, vessel-focused lasers are often used to reduce redness. The doctor will assess whether your skin is calm enough for laser and plan conservative settings to reduce the risk of a flare.
Does Seoul's weather affect rosacea?
It can. Hot, humid summers and heated indoor spaces in winter may trigger flushing, while cold, dry air can weaken the barrier. Fine dust in spring may also irritate skin. Adjusting skincare by season and using sun protection year-round helps many people keep symptoms under control.
