How do I take AREX from Incheon Airport to Hongdae?
The Airport Railroad (AREX) connects both Incheon Airport terminals with central Seoul, and Hongik University Station is one of its stops. This is why Hongdae is a convenient base for travelers.
- Follow signs for Airport Railroad from arrivals at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2.
- Take the all-stop train (sometimes called the commuter train) toward Seoul Station. The express train goes nonstop to Seoul Station and does not stop at Hongik University.
- Get off at Hongik University Station. The ride typically takes about 50 to 60 minutes, slightly longer from Terminal 2.
- Follow the directions on our Location & Hours page to the clinic.
You can pay with a T-money card or another rechargeable transit card bought at convenience stores in the airport, or buy a single-journey ticket from machines. See our Hongik University Station page for tips on navigating the station, which also serves Line 2 and the Gyeongui–Jungang Line.
What about buses and taxis?
- Airport limousine bus: Several routes serve the Hongdae and Mapo areas. They can be comfortable with luggage, but travel time depends on traffic.
- Taxi: Door-to-door and convenient with heavy bags, though it usually costs considerably more than the train and may be slower at rush hour.
Can I plan a treatment on my arrival day?
Many travelers like to arrive, drop their bags at a Hongdae hotel or guesthouse and head to the clinic. This can work well for consultations and low-downtime treatments, but a few points help:
- Long flights can leave skin dehydrated and sensitive, so the doctor may recommend starting with hydration before more intensive treatments.
- Jet lag and flight delays are unpredictable. Book a little later in the day, or the following morning, to allow for delays.
- If you have a consultation first, the doctor can plan the rest of your stay around your treatment goals.

Can I have a treatment on my departure day?
A departure-day treatment is possible for some low-downtime options, but timing matters. Allow time for the clinic visit, the 50 to 60 minute train journey and airport procedures, which typically means arriving at the airport two to three hours before an international flight. Treatments with swelling, bruising or crusting are usually better scheduled earlier in the trip so the doctor can check your skin before you leave.

What should I pack in my carry-on for skin care?
Cabin air is very dry, so a small kit helps you arrive with calmer skin. Bring a travel-size moisturizer, a hydrating mist or sheet mask, lip balm and sunscreen for the walk from the station. Skip strong actives such as retinoids or acid toners on the flight and for a day or two before an appointment. If you take any regular medication, keep a list with you to share at consultation.
Where should I stay in Hongdae?
Hongdae has many hotels and guesthouses near Hongik University Station, which makes it easy to travel to and from the airport and the clinic. See Hongdae hotels and guesthouses for ideas on choosing a base.
