What is the quickest way from Gimpo to Hongdae?
The AREX (Airport Railroad Express) all-stop train is the simplest option. It runs from Gimpo Airport Station toward Seoul Station and stops at Hongik University Station, which is the main subway hub for Hongdae. The ride usually takes around 15–20 minutes, with no transfers.
From Hongik University Station you can also connect to Line 2 and the Gyeongui–Jungang Line. For walking directions from the station to the clinic, please check our Location & Hours page, where the address and exit details will be listed.
Step by step on the AREX
- After arrivals, follow signs for the Airport Railroad or AREX at Gimpo Airport Station.
- Tap a T-money card or buy a single-journey ticket from the machine.
- Board the all-stop train heading toward Seoul Station.
- Get off at Hongik University Station.
Can I use Line 5 or Line 9 instead?
Gimpo Airport Station is also served by Line 5 and Line 9. These are useful for other parts of Seoul, such as Yeouido or Gangnam, but for Hongdae the AREX is usually the most direct. If you are staying near Hapjeong, you could also reach it by transferring between lines; a map app will show the best option at the time you travel.
Is a taxi a good option?
Taxis are easy to find at Gimpo's taxi ranks and are helpful if you have large luggage or arrive late. The trip to Hongdae usually takes 20–40 minutes depending on traffic. Show the driver the address from our Location page in Korean to avoid confusion. Many taxis accept cards, and apps such as Kakao T can be used to call one.
Which airlines and routes use Gimpo?
Gimpo International Airport mainly handles domestic flights and selected short-haul international routes to nearby cities in Japan, China and Taiwan. Because it is much closer to central Seoul than Incheon, it is especially convenient for weekend visitors. If you are flying long haul, you will most likely arrive at Incheon instead; see our Incheon route page in the related links.
Can I go straight from Gimpo to my appointment?
Many travelers do, especially those on domestic flights from Jeju or Busan, or short-haul flights from Tokyo, Osaka, Shanghai or Taipei that use Gimpo. A few tips help:
- Leave a buffer for immigration, baggage claim and travel time.
- Drop luggage at your hotel first if possible, or ask the clinic about storage when booking.
- Hydrate after the flight, particularly before injections or lasers.
- Tell the doctor if you plan another flight soon after treatment.
For trip planning, see our 3-day Seoul treatment itinerary.
Which treatments suit a short Gimpo trip?
Travelers flying in and out of Gimpo on weekend trips often choose treatments with little or no downtime, such as HydraFacial, laser toning, Ultherapy Prime or skin boosters. Treatments with more swelling, like thread lifts, are better earlier in a longer stay. Read our flying after treatments guide before you book.
Heading back to Gimpo after treatment
The return journey is just as easy on the AREX. If you had a treatment that may cause swelling, wear a mask or sunglasses for comfort, keep sunscreen on hand and avoid alcohol on the plane.
