After Botox and filler at Re:berry Hongdae, the key aftercare rules are to stay upright for about four hours, avoid rubbing the area, and skip intense exercise, saunas and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours. Mild swelling, redness or bruising is common and usually fades within days. Contact the clinic promptly about severe pain or skin color changes.

Why aftercare matters
Botox and filler are quick treatments, but what you do in the first one to two days can affect comfort, bruising and, in some cases, the result. Botulinum toxin needs time to bind to the target muscle, and filler needs time to settle into position. Good aftercare reduces swelling and bruising and lowers the risk of the product moving or infection developing. Always follow the specific instructions your Re:berry doctor gives you, as they may differ by area and product.
Aftercare after Botox
First 4 hours
- Stay upright; avoid lying flat or bending your head down for long periods.
- Do not rub, press or massage the injected areas.
- Avoid tight hats, headbands or face masks that press on the forehead.
First 24 hours
- Skip strenuous exercise, hot yoga, saunas and jjimjilbang.
- Avoid alcohol, which can increase bruising.
- Postpone facials, face massage and other treatments on the area.
The next two weeks
Botox usually starts working in 3 to 7 days and reaches full effect at about two weeks. That is the time to judge the result. If something looks uneven, contact the clinic rather than trying to fix it yourself. For details on positioning, see Can I lie down after Botox?
Aftercare after filler
First 24 to 48 hours
- Apply a cold compress wrapped in a clean cloth for 5 to 10 minutes at a time to ease swelling.
- Avoid pressing on or massaging the area unless your doctor tells you to.
- Skip strenuous exercise, saunas, hot baths and alcohol.
- Sleep on your back with your head slightly raised.
- Keep the area clean and avoid makeup on puncture points until they have closed.
First two weeks
- Avoid dental work, facial massage and treatments that press on the face if possible.
- Postpone laser or radiofrequency treatments on the area unless your doctor approves.
- Be gentle when cleansing and applying skincare.
Swelling after filler often peaks at 24 to 72 hours, especially in the lips and under-eyes, then improves. Small lumps can be felt early and often soften. Our page How do I reduce swelling after filler? has more tips.
How to reduce bruising
Bruising can happen with any injection, particularly around the eyes and lips. To lower the risk:
- Before treatment, tell the doctor about blood thinners, and ask whether to pause supplements such as fish oil, vitamin E or ginkgo. Never stop prescribed medication without medical advice.
- Avoid alcohol for a day or so before and after.
- Use cold compresses gently after treatment.
- Cover bruises with concealer once puncture points are closed.
Most bruises fade within 5 to 10 days.
Skincare and makeup
Gentle cleansing and a simple moisturizer and sunscreen are usually fine from the evening of treatment. Avoid strong acids, retinoids and scrubs on the treated area for a few days. Makeup can typically be applied the next day, or once puncture points have closed. Use clean brushes or fresh applicators to reduce infection risk.
Flying and travel after injections
Many people fly within a day or two of Botox or filler. Cabin pressure does not usually affect the result, but swelling can feel more noticeable on long flights. Stay hydrated, avoid alcohol and salty snacks, and move around the cabin when possible. If you are traveling home soon after, tell the doctor your flight date. More guidance is in Flying after skin treatments.
What is normal and what is not?
Usually normal
- Mild redness and small bumps at injection points for a few hours
- Swelling and tenderness for several days after filler
- Small bruises that fade over a week or so
- A mild headache after Botox
Contact the clinic promptly
- Severe or increasing pain after filler
- Skin turning white, gray, blue or mottled near the treated area
- Any change in vision
- Signs of infection: increasing redness, heat, pus or fever
- Drooping eyelid, difficulty swallowing or breathing after Botox
Vascular events from filler are rare but need urgent attention. If you are outside clinic hours or have already flown home, seek immediate local medical care and mention that you had filler.
Combining Botox and filler with other treatments
Many people have Botox and filler on the same day, and some combine them with skin boosters or lifting devices. Order matters: energy-based treatments such as ultrasound or radiofrequency are often done before injectables in a single visit, or scheduled on a different day, so heat does not affect freshly placed product. If you plan more treatments during your stay, ask the doctor how to space them and which aftercare rules apply to each. Our guide to combining treatments explains common pairings.
When to book your review
A review at around two weeks is common for both Botox and filler, because that is when Botox has reached full effect and filler swelling has settled. If you are visiting Seoul, consider booking injections early in your trip so a review is possible before you leave. Branch hours are on our Location & Hours page.

Frequently asked questions
Can I wash my face after Botox?
Yes, you can usually wash your face gently the same evening. Use lukewarm water and a mild cleanser, and pat dry rather than rubbing. Avoid massaging the injected areas, and skip cleansing devices, scrubs and facial massage for at least a day. Follow any specific instructions your doctor gives you.
When can I exercise after filler?
Most doctors advise avoiding strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours after filler, because increased blood flow and heat can worsen swelling and bruising. Gentle walking is usually fine. For lip or under-eye filler, some people prefer to wait a little longer until swelling has settled. Ask your doctor if you have a sports event planned.
Can I sleep on my side after filler?
For the first night or two, sleeping on your back with your head slightly raised is commonly recommended to reduce swelling and pressure on the filler. After that, most people can return to their normal sleeping position. If you had a large amount of filler, the doctor may ask you to be careful for longer.
Is it normal for filler to feel lumpy?
Small lumps or firmness can be normal in the first days to two weeks, especially in the lips, as filler settles and swelling resolves. Do not massage unless instructed. If lumps persist beyond two weeks, are painful or visible, contact the clinic so a doctor can assess whether treatment is needed.
