A thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure in which absorbable medical threads, often PDO, are inserted under the skin through tiny entry points to lift sagging tissue and stimulate collagen. It requires no scalpel incision. At Re:berry Hongdae, Dooth and Mint thread lifts are offered, with results commonly lasting around 12–18 months.

How does a thread lift work?
Threads with small barbs or cogs are inserted with a fine needle or cannula along planned lines. The barbs catch the tissue so it can be repositioned upward, giving an immediate lift. Over the following months, the threads slowly dissolve, and the body forms collagen around them, which helps support the skin even after the thread itself is gone.
Who is a good candidate?
- Adults with mild to moderate sagging, especially along the jaw and cheeks
- People wanting a visible lift without surgery
- Those whose energy-based lifting alone has not given enough repositioning
Thread lifts are less suitable for heavy skin excess, very thin skin, active infection, bleeding disorders, autoimmune conditions or pregnancy. The doctor will review your medical history first.
What types of threads are there?
Threads vary in material, barb design and length. At Re:berry, the main options are Mint, a PDO thread with 3D-molded barbs for firm grip, and Dooth, a premium thread lifting program. Compare them in Dooth thread vs Mint thread.
What happens on the day?
The doctor marks lifting vectors on your face, numbs the entry points and along the thread path, then places the threads and adjusts them for symmetry. Ends are trimmed below the skin. The procedure usually takes 30–60 minutes, and you can leave the clinic the same day.
What is recovery like?
Swelling, mild bruising, tenderness and a tight feeling are common for about three to seven days. Avoid wide mouth opening, facial massage, saunas and intense exercise for about one to two weeks. Uncommon risks include dimpling, palpable threads, asymmetry and infection. See aftercare after thread lifting.
Pricing depends on the thread type, number of threads and plan, and is confirmed in writing at consultation. Find the Hongdae branch on our Location & Hours page.

Related questions
Is a thread lift the same as a facelift?
No. A surgical facelift removes excess skin and repositions deeper tissue through incisions, with longer recovery and longer-lasting results. A thread lift is minimally invasive and temporary, suiting milder sagging. It can give a noticeable lift with much shorter recovery, but it does not replicate surgery.
Can thread lifts be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Threads are often combined with energy-based lifting such as Ultherapy or Thermage, which build collagen gradually, or with filler where volume loss adds to sagging. Skin boosters are another common pairing. The doctor plans the order and spacing so treatments complement each other safely.
How soon can I fly after a thread lift?
Many clinics recommend allowing several days in Seoul after a thread lift, ideally five to seven, so swelling can settle and any concerns can be checked. Flying itself is not usually harmful, but staying nearby for early follow-up is safer. Discuss your travel dates during consultation.
