Can I Exercise After Ultherapy?

Most people can do light activity such as walking the same day after Ultherapy, and return to normal exercise within about 24–48 hours. Because Ultherapy does not break the skin, there is no wound to protect, but intense heat and strenuous workouts may increase swelling or tenderness. At Re:berry Hongdae, follow your aftercare sheet. Results vary by individual.

Why is exercise usually fine after Ultherapy?

Ultherapy and Ultherapy Prime deliver focused ultrasound beneath the surface while leaving the skin intact. There are no open wounds or injection points, so infection risk from sweat is low. That is why many people go back to normal life straight away, including walking around Hongdae or the riverside.

Why might I wait a day or two?

Ultrasound creates small zones of heat in deeper tissue, and the body responds with mild inflammation as part of collagen remodeling. Strenuous exercise raises blood flow and body temperature, which may:

  • make swelling more noticeable for a short time;
  • increase tenderness along the jaw or cheeks;
  • feel uncomfortable if the face is sensitive to pressure or impact.

This does not usually affect the final result, but waiting 24–48 hours can make recovery more comfortable.

A practical timeline

  1. Same day: gentle walking, light stretching, normal daily activities.
  2. Day 1–2: moderate workouts if you feel comfortable.
  3. Day 2–3 onward: intense workouts, hot yoga, saunas and jjimjilbang if there is no noticeable swelling.

Avoid face-down positions on hard surfaces, tight headgear or contact sports while the area is tender. If you are having Ultherapy combined with fillers or Botox on the same day, those treatments may have stricter rules; see exercise after Botox.

What about active trips in Seoul?

Many visitors plan hikes such as Bukhansan or Inwangsan, or long cycling routes along the Han River. These are usually fine a day or two after Ultherapy if you feel comfortable. Use plenty of sunscreen, wear a hat and stay hydrated, since heat and sun can make facial swelling feel more noticeable. Gentle options on treatment day include a stroll through the Gyeongui Line Forest Park or Mangwon Hangang Park in the evening.

When should I contact the clinic?

Mild tenderness, swelling or patches of numbness can occur and usually fade over days to weeks. Contact the clinic if you notice severe pain, increasing swelling, blistering or weakness in facial movement. For more aftercare guidance, read aftercare after Ultherapy and Thermage. Related questions

Will sweating ruin my Ultherapy results?

No. Sweating does not affect the collagen remodeling that Ultherapy stimulates, and because the skin surface is not broken, sweat is unlikely to cause infection. The main reason to wait a day or two before intense exercise is comfort, since heat and exertion can make swelling or tenderness more noticeable for a short time.

Can I go to the gym the day after Ultherapy?

Many people can, especially for moderate workouts. If your face feels swollen or tender, choose lower-intensity exercise for another day and avoid movements that put pressure on the face. Heavy lifting can raise blood pressure in the head, so ease back in gradually and stop if you feel discomfort.

Can I swim after Ultherapy?

Swimming is usually fine once any initial redness has settled, often the next day, because the skin surface is intact. Chlorine may feel slightly irritating on sensitive skin, so rinse afterward and apply a gentle moisturizer. Outdoor swimming means extra sun exposure, so use a water-resistant sunscreen.
