Q&A
What Is Skin Botox (Micro Botox)?

Skin Botox, also called micro Botox or intradermal Botox, is a technique in which very diluted botulinum toxin is injected into the upper skin layer instead of the muscle. It may reduce oil, refine the look of pores, smooth fine texture and soften redness. At Re:berry Hongdae effects typically last around three to four months.

How is skin Botox different from regular Botox?

Regular Botox is injected into specific muscles to stop them folding the skin, which smooths expression wrinkles. Skin Botox uses the same type of product, but much more diluted and placed very shallowly across a wider area. At this level it mainly influences sebaceous glands, sweat glands and tiny muscle fibers attached to the skin, rather than facial expression.

The result many people describe is a smoother, less shiny surface with a finer look, sometimes called a "glass skin" effect. Read more on our Skin Botox (Micro Botox) page.

What can skin Botox help with?

  • Oily skin: reduced sebum production. See does skin Botox reduce oil?
  • Enlarged pores: pores may look smaller when oil is reduced.
  • Fine texture and crepiness: a smoother surface on cheeks or neck.
  • Jawline and neck definition: sometimes used to soften neck bands and improve contour.
  • Flushing: some clinics use it to help with redness, though evidence varies.

What is the procedure like?

After numbing cream, the doctor places many tiny injections across the treatment area, by hand or with a microinjection device. Small raised bumps are normal and usually flatten within hours. Pinpoint bruising can occur. Avoid rubbing, saunas and hard exercise for the rest of the day.

Which areas are commonly treated?

The cheeks, forehead, nose and T-zone are the most common areas for oil and pore concerns. The lower face and neck are sometimes treated for texture and contour. The doctor chooses the area and dilution based on your skin, so two people asking for skin Botox may receive quite different plans.

Who should avoid it?

Skin Botox is generally postponed during pregnancy and breastfeeding and may not suit people with neuromuscular disorders, active skin infection or allergies to toxin ingredients. Pricing depends on area and dose and is confirmed in writing at consultation. Book through our Booking page.

Related questions

Does skin Botox change my facial expressions?

It is not intended to, because the product is very diluted and placed superficially. Most patients keep normal expressions. Occasionally, slight changes in movement can occur, especially on the forehead or around the mouth. The doctor adjusts placement to keep expressions natural.

How soon will I see results from skin Botox?

Many people notice less oil and a smoother surface within about one to two weeks. The effect typically lasts around three to four months, then gradually fades as gland and muscle activity return. Results vary by individual, and some people repeat during their oiliest seasons.

Can skin Botox be combined with other treatments?

Yes, it is often combined with skin boosters, lifting devices or laser treatments as part of a broader plan. The doctor decides whether combinations can be done on the same day or should be spaced apart, depending on your skin and the treatments chosen.
